Researching Writing and Searching for PDF files

As an author, I am always looking for information about the different aspects of writing. I like to do research on different types of writing such as essays, poetry, flash fiction, short stories, etc. I prefer to read PDF files because I find them easier to download, take notes while I am reading, and delete.

I found a website with an easy search for PDF file. Once I arrived at new age pdf search I simply typed in the keyword "writing" into the search box and pressed enter. The search engine displayed several different titles containing "writing". Then all I had to do was click on the title and look at the thumbnails. After finding a subject I was interested in reading, I downloaded the item. The download was fast and let me read the PDF file on the screen. When I finished, I click on home and returned to the search website.

After the first search, I did several more using other keywords. This website is a good resource for anyone doing research of any type. I have a DSL connection and I had no problem quickly downloading the items that interested me. When I finished my first few searches, I added the website to my favorites because this is a resource every writer should keep at his or her fingertips.

  • Multitasking on the last day of June in Las Vegas

I am writing and doing housework at the same time. I write between chose because I run out of energy quickly and have to rest between or before completing a chore. I need to talk to my doctor the next time I see her because I should have more energy then I do.

I will see her sometime in July. On Friday, July 2, I will have my blood test and then I will know if I have less of a problem then I think. After I have my blood test on Friday, I will go to the laundromat with three or four basket of dirty cloths. I wish I had the pipes behind my washer fixed, so that I could do laundry at home. I know Mom would like to do laundry at home.

    At the laundromat
    There are front loading washers
    Waiting for my cloths

I am rest now, so I can get back to sweeping the kitchen. I will sweep the kitchen, dining room, and hall before fill the mop bucket. Perhaps while I am sweeping the floor I can think of a poem or story plot to use the experience.

    Housework is stressful
    Writing is stressful as well
    I prefer writing

    Fences Make Good Neighbors

Fences make good neighbors and beautify the property. Homes with swimming pools need fences around the pools. The fence surrounding a swimming pool is a safety measure. A fence around a swimming pool needs a lock that the homeowner keeps locked. It helps keep unattended children out of the swimming pool.

Homes without swimming pools need fences as well. A fence keeps stray dogs off the property; therefore, it helps keep the yard clean. A fence keeps dogs in the yard and prevents them from going into the neighbor's yard to do their business. In this case, it helps keep peace in the neighborhood.

I have a fence surrounding my backyard. The fence around my backyard is constructed partly of wood and partly of stone, with a locking gate. I need to replace the wooden part and fix gate so that I can keep it locked. I am doing an Internet search for places like san diego wood fence.

I want to look at different styles of wooden fences before I make a final decision on fencing materials. Since I only have to replace part of the fence, I want to know what type of wood looks good and last a long time

  • Daytime Writing and my writing schedule

I am going to change my writing schedule. I cannot write during the day anymore, no I have not became a vampire. Morning and afternoon writing is becoming stressful. My mother has Alzheimer's disease and short-term memory issues. Mom misplaces things and gets angry when she cannot find them, so I have to help her find whatever she has lost.

This morning she lost her bra. This morning I realized that I would rather have housework interrupted then writing. I am changing my writing schedule to late afternoon and evening. Mom still misplaces items, but she can find the stuff easier and she does not get as angry.

I begun the my next edition of the writing.com fantasy newsletter

My latest edition of the writing.com fantasy newsletter came out on June 23 covering the subject of fathers. The next edition I edit is due out on July 21. I have decided on a subject, therefore I have begun writing the newsletter.

Writing.com publishes its newsletters each week, with each newsletter featuring a different editor each time. Sometimes it is difficult to find a subject, so when I do get an idea I begin working on it immediately. Time moves quickly and if I do not begin writing the newsletter as soon as possible I find myself stressing because the deadline is approaching. The deadline for my next newsletter is July 19.

I am looking for parts for my 2000 Kia Sephia

I am looking for part for my 2000 silver Kia Sephia, which was a birthday present a couple of years ago. The car runs good and I have put very much work into it, but that may not last. I need to find some place I can order parts online and have them delivered to my home. I have some very good reasons to start my search before I need the parts. I have learned from driving other cars, that it is a good idea to know where you can get parts before you need them.

The 1991 burgundy Toyota Corolla Coupe I owned ended up parked in my driveway for months because I could not afford to pay for both the labor and the parts. If I had been able to get the parts, I could have had a neighbor, who is an auto mechanic, fix the car where was parked.

Therefore, I am looking for Car Parts for my 2000 Kia Sephia before I need them.  There is no use waiting until the last minute to find an online source for the parts. Experience, has taught me that I need to do this while the car is still in good condition because procrastination costs more.

Wake up and smell the coffee

Wake up and smell the coffee or wake up and make the coffee. I have a percolator instead of a drip coffee makers. I bought the percolater over a year ago when the drip coffee maker no longer worked. I like the sound of coffee purking. I like the taste of coffee brewed in a percolator because it brings back memories of my grandparents.

    Percolator sings
    My grandparents remembered
    Cowboy coffee

My grandfather drank coffee all day long. In the morning, he made percolator of cowboy coffee, went to work in the fields, and then came back to the house. He always had a cowboy coffee waiting for him to come home.

Today the pain is a five

    Today it is five
It moves up the scale of pain
    Eight wakes me up

The pain in my right knee moves up and down the scale. It's always on the edge of consciousness, sometime less noticeable and sometime more noticeable. I haven't been sleeping well and the pain in my right knee flickers up and own the scale.

    I am writing Haiku

    Each day birds singing
    Happy from morning 'till night
    Continuous song

I think that is why I'm writing haiku. The only poem's I've written all month are haiku. I want to use other forms, but my muse sees to like haiku. I think it is because the birds are singing that I am writing only haiku.

I need to attempt another form because I feel like I'm in a rut. I will research some of the forms I used in the Poetry in Motion challenge. I research the form and then I write a poem in that form and post it in this blog. That should get me out of my rut.

The subject of Writing and Other Stuff

The subject of this blog is writing. Some of the posts are poems written by me. Some of the entries are ads that I write and post in Poet 999’s Thoughts about Writing and Other Stuff. Some of the entries are the beginning of short stories or flash fiction. Some of the entries discuss poetry forms. Some of the posts are ideas about what to write.

The 200 words is the minimum word count goal for each entry. Sometimes I do not make that goal. On certain days or at specific times of day, it is difficult to write 200 words on a single subject. Up to now, I have attempted to meet that daily goal by making more then a single post. I am going to change the goals from 200 words per entry to 200 words per day. That way, if I do not achieve the goal in a single entry, I can make another entry without worrying about a word count.

    Summer in Las Vegas

    Temperatures rising
    Into the triple digits
    With the power bill

It is summer in Las Vegas. My thermostat is set at 80 degrees, I can't set much higher then that because the house gets too warm. My muse wants to take a nap in the afternoon, therefore, I am going to have to start posting in the morning when I can think.

    Wacky Weather in Las Vegas

Earlier this week, the temperature reached 110. Today the temperature is expected to drop about 30 degrees and rain is predicted. I look out my living room window and I see a cloudy sky. I hear distant thunder and I fully expect it to rain. The weather here in Las Vegas is bizarre; it is going wacky.

  • I want a new office chair

I want and I need a new office chair. The one I have now is several years old; in fact, I do not know how old the chair is because I bought it at a garage sale about ten years ago. The seat of the chair is splitting and when I roll it, the chair squeaks. I want a chair that is does not make any type of noise when I roll it across the floor.

The office chair I have is dark brown and it does not go with my light colored computer desk. I want a new chair that is red or orange, any other color except brown. I also want a comfortable chair. The chair I am sitting in now is uncomfortable and it causes my back to hurt. In addition, when I lean back it makes a squeaking noise. I am afraid it will break when I lean back in it.

It is important for Office Chairs to be comfortable and beautiful. I want an ergonomic chair that is beautiful and comfortable. I want a chair that I can lean back in safely because leaning back in the chair helps when I read information displayed on my computer screen. I still have to decide if I want a chair with or without armrest.

    Friday in Las Vegas

    A windy Friday
    Plastic grocery bag waits
    For another gust

When I went outside to pick up the newspaper, a plastic grocery bag lay in my front yard. Inside the bag was an empty half-gallon milk jug. I picked it up and threw it my trash container; on windy days all sorts of trash blows into my yard. I wish people were more aware of the littering laws and had more respect for the city they live in or visit.

I have to start saying No

I wasted an hour this morning because I did not say "No!" I know the reason, someone asked to pick someone else up at a city bus stop and take that person across town. Before I could think, I said "Yes." I said yes because I did not think, I did not consider the bus schedule (the buses on that route run every fifteen or twenty minutes) so the person waiting would not have to wait more then twenty minutes for the bus.

I do most of my work at home and online, so people think I have time to stop in the middle of whatever I am doing. I have no more free time then someone who works outside the home for eight hours. Actually, I may have less because, even with DSL, it takes a few minutes to get online and access a website or survey. I am blaming no one except myself for wasting time because I did not stop and think before answering.

On Tuesday, I did not work online at all, but that was because I worked for the election department during Primary Elections. Even though I spent all day working the Polls, the election department compensated for my time. This morning was completely different because it was a waste of both gas and time. I did learn something; at least I hope I learned something about saying "No!" I suppose that if I learned something it was not a waste of time, I will have to wait and see if I learned to stop and think before saying "Yes" or "No."

    D-Day: June 6, 1944

D-Day: June 6, 1944, 160,000 troops landed on Normandy Beach in France. Photos From the Front are a witness to this day in history. Pause for a moment and remember the 5,000 ships, 13,000 aircraft, and 160,000 Allied soldiers who landed on Normandy Beach. Say a prayer for the 9,000 troops killed or wounded.

A list poem about My Hometown

I started a list poem in Poet 999 - A Butterfly Emerges from her Cocoon the title of the poem is I Remember Blackwell, Oklahoma. I started the poem, but I have not finished it.

A list poem is simply a rhymed or unrhymed poem listing different items. I think I will write this poem in blank verse and repeat the phrase "I remember". I am going to divide the poem into two stanza. The first stanza will begin with the phrase "I remember" and the second with the phrase, "I don't remember". I need to do some research before I finish the poem.

    Treats for Cats

I am looking for treats for my cats. I want something I can give them while I am playing with them. I want something that they will enjoy as much as they enjoy their playtime. I want something that will make my senior cats come running when they see me take the treat container out of the kitchen cupboard.

I am looking for a cat treat that is natural and contains no artificial flavors, but with added vitamins and minerals. My cats are extremely particular when it comes to treats and they will not eat just anything I bring home from the grocery or pet supply store.

The flavors my cats like are tuna, salmon, turkey, chicken, and beef. When I buy treats for cats, I read the labels. I want a treat that is low in calories, because my three indoor senior cats do not get very much exercise. I also look for treats that help keep tartar under control.

My cats (Midnight, Prince, and Beauty) look forward to their playtime and treats. They know when I bring home a new bag of treats and they will not let me rest until I give them each a treat. I know immediately if they like the treat because they ask for more.

    Subjects for haiku

For the past three or four months, birds have sing 24/7. One group, I say group because none of the birds I hear singing are from the same flock, begins at dawn and sings all day. Another group of birds begins singing at sunset and sing all night.

    Twenty-four seven
Birds proclaim the joy of life
    Noisy neighborhood

I used to think this was a rather quiet neighborhood; however, the singing birds have changed that. I enjoy hearing the birds sing and I doubt that anyone is complaining about singing birds. All this singing has inspired me to write more haiku this year.

I finally bought a cell phone

I bought a cell phone yesterday morning and activated it yesterday evening. I have 300 minutes and 59 days of service left. I can buy minutes and time to add to the phone, which I will closer to the end of this month. I don't want to wait until the last minute of add days and minutes to the phone. This cell phone has a lot of features, which I need to sit down and use.

    I am connected
    The world at my fingertips
    Waiting for a call
