Considering my NaNoWriMo Plot

I finally have a working printer. It is wonderful to be able to print off my works so that I can edit them. This morning I printed off a copy of The Search for Intelligent Life and Winged Vengeance. I have to decide which plot I will use for my NaNoWriMo novel. I have to decide before Thursday, October 1, because that is when the NaNoWriMo Prep Challenge begins on writing.com.

When I wrote The Search for Intelligent Life, a couple of months ago, I thought I was going to use that as the plot basis for my 2015 NaNoWriMo novel. However, last week I wrote Winged Vengeance, which introduced an intriguing female character. This week I am writing a continuation of that story, but introducing a male character.

I think the female character will be the main protagonist because I prefer to write about female characters. The male character I am writing about this week will be a secondary protagonist who will be (I think) the love interest of the female character. I also have another male character in mind as the antagonist, but I could decide I want a female character as the main antagonist in that story. I will decide by Thursday afternoon plot I am using for the novel.

    Three Days and Counting

In three days, on October 1, the NaNoWriMo Preparation Challenge begins on writing.com. Those who participate in this challenge are expected to spend at least 15 minutes a day working on the required assignments. Once the required assignment for any given day is completed, and the information on its completion submitted, then the participant can either move on to the next required assignment or work on the bonus assignment for that day.

There are required and bonus assignments for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Saturday, the only required assignment is the contest round assignment. A participant is not required to enter the contest, but the assignment must be completed even if it is not entered in the contests. Sunday is a free day, which means you can catch up on anything you have not completed, work on an upcoming assignment or bonus, or focus your writing efforts on something else.

I have a book ready for the assignments and bonuses in my port: Visit My Portfolio @ Writing.Com. I have made the first enter a calendar-check list that contains all the assignments. I am as ready as I will ever be for the NaNoWriMo Prep Challenge. I plan on scheduling my Prep Challenge writing time of a morning, but that schedule is not sit in stone because on some days I will have to wait until afternoon or evening to work on the assignments.

I have two possible working titles for my National Novel Writing Month novel. The first is The Empire of the Blue Wolf and the second is Valley of the Crested Towers, but I may change the working title before November 1 when NaNoWriMo begins. Since I like both titles, and cannot think of anything better, I will use one of those. If I come up with a better title before November then I will make a blog entry about it.

Thankful Thursday: A busy poetry week

It is thankful Thursday of a busy poetry week. I have written six or seven short poems this week with more in the planning stage. I cannot figure out why I am so inspired this close to the end of the month. Normally, my inspiration occurs at the beginning of the month instead of the end.

    September
    a good month to write
    autumn poetry.

I could be warming up for October and the NaNoWriMo Prep challenge. I will spend the thirty-one days from October 1 to October 31 planning my 2014 NaNoWriMo novel. I already have a plot idea and a few characters in the planning stage. October should be another good month for writing.

Fiction Friday: Thinking about October and November

In thirteen days, on October 1, the NaNoWriMo Prep Challenge begins on writing.com. This is thirty-one days of planning for National Novel Writing Month in November. I have already begin brainstorming my novel and even have one character profile story written in my writing.com blog. I did not intend to write this story today, but when I went to respond to the blog prompt nothing else came to mine. Since I could not think of anything else I begin a character profile description which turn into a flash fiction story.

I have my book already have my NaNoWriMo 2014 Prep Challenge book established in my portfolio, but the only thing I have in it is the calendar-check sheet for October. I have been in a semi-positive mood for a a couple of weeks, which means I am attempting to overcome my depressive tendency to procrastinate and look on the dark side. This is not easy for someone who has dealt with depression most of her 67 years of life.

My main goal for October is to spend fifteen-minutes a day planning my NaNoWriMo novel for November. I know I will have to increase my writing time in November from fifteen minutes to thirty-five or forty minutes to meet the 1,667 words a day in November. I will know by the end of October how many words I can write in fifteen minutes, which will give me an idea of how long it will take me to write 1,667 a day in November.

    Too Many Clothes

As I was cleaning out the closet in my former bedroom, I had an epiphany. I realized that contrary to popular opinion, a woman could have too many clothes and that I had too many clothes. Some of those outfits I have not worn in five or six years and I suspect some of them I have never worn.

On Monday, I cleaned out my mother’s closet and then begin cleaning out mine. I finished cleaning my closet today, but I still have the closet in the spare room to clean out. When Mom and I moved into this house, sometime in the last century, I thought a three-bedroom house for two people was a good idea. I was wrong!

The reason I was wrong concerns the third bedroom and its closet. Mom and I filled the closets in both are bedrooms with clothes and then proceeded to fill the closet in the third bedroom. Right now, I have four large trash bags of clothes sitting in my entrance hall waiting for me to put them on the front porch Wednesday night so a truck from Big Brothers and Big Sisters can pick them up. I still have another closet to clean out, but I do not have enough room in my entrance hall for another bag of clothes.

Oh well, I suppose I could use this experience in my upcoming NaNoWriMo novel. Yes, despite the fact that I the sale of the house closes on October 30, I am planning to participate in the NaNoWriMo Prep Challenge on writing.com in October and in National Novel Writing Month in November. At least, I cannot complain about boredom and I have a good reason for not getting enough sleep.

    NaNoWriMo Day 1

Today the writing begins. This is November 1, the first day of National Novel Writing Month. The daily NaNoWriMo word count goal is 1,667. I created a document for the daily writing, which I am keeping open while I do household chores and deal with interruptions.

Interruptions are the biggest problem. I am my mother’s caregiver, so I am responsible for making sure she takes her medication. I am also responsible for helping Mom find the items she misplaces. Mom misplaces her glasses and gets upset when she cannot find them. Normally, I can find them without much difficulty because she takes them off and lays them on a table and then leaves the room.

If I keep a document open and waiting, I can return to writing after I deal with whatever situation confronts me. I know I can complete NaNoWriMo because I completed the writing.com October NaNoWriMoPrep Challenge. Completing the challenge was not easy, bud I did complete it.

This is Day 12 of the NaNoWriMoPrep Challenge

I am still in the challenge. I am still planning my 2010 NaNoWriMo novel. Today I wrote a short story about that set up the plot for the novel. I am looking forward to completing the NaNoWriMoPrep Challenge this year. I am looking forward to completing NaNoWriMo in November.

Planning this novel is a struggle because I keep encountering interruptions in the middle of planning. Writing the story today was easy enough even with the interruptions. However, yesterday writing was difficult because of the interruptions. I am not sure why it was easier to write today then yesterday.
