Friday afternoon in Las Vegas

Cat lies on the couch
Birds flutter in the front yard
Tomorrow is May

It's the last day of April, I'm tired. I want to curl up like the cat lying on the back of the couch. I still have work to do before going to bed. It's Friday, I would love to relax this weekend and do nothing. Instead, I'll do laundry on Saturday and then perhaps a picnic on Sunday.

I have one more poem to complete before 8:45 PM Saturday. I'm having a bit of trouble with this form. I write the first verse and then draw a blank. I'm going to attempt it again tonight and see what happens.

Words stuck in my brain
They float in and out of sight
Clouds in a blue sky

    Wind in Las Vegas

    The wind blew all night
Pulling at the limbs of trees
    Knocking things over

The wind made some terrible noises last night. It sound like it was tearing my fence down and ripping the limbs off trees. When I looked into my back yard, the fence still stood all though one of the oleanders appeared to be damaged. I doubt the wind did more the rip a few limbs off, but the bush doesn't look good this morning.

My Internet connection went down yesterday

The connection went down about 1:00 yesterday afternoon. They fixed the connection after 6:00 last night. I missed the DSL link to the Internet while the connection was down. It's amazing how dependant I am on a piece of technology. I can remember when there was no Internet and the only connections I had to the rest of the world were newspapers, telephones, and televisions.

    The connection down
    The television still worked
    Missed the Internet

    I Cook therefore I am

I enjoy cooking. I enjoy experimenting with spices. I enjoy writing poetry. I enjoy experimenting with poetry forms.

The enjoyment of cooking comes from Grandma Newland, who loved to cook from scratch. I use prepared mixes sometimes and sometimes I cook from scratch. However, I always experiment with spices and ninety-nine percent of the time, my experiment works out and the food tastes good. I eat whatever I cook, so if the food does not taste good; I eat it any way.

    Grandma liked to cook
    Grandma enjoyed housework
    I enjoy cooking

I do not know which side of my family the creative writing comes from, I know I like writing poetry and experimenting with poetry forms.

Another 80-degree day in Las Vegas

The birds are happy this evening because the temperature in Las Vegas remained in the 80s today. I think the temperature was around 84 or 85 degrees outside. In the house, until about an hour ago the temperature stayed in the 70s, the last time I checked the thermostat it read 80 degrees. I'll check it again in a few minutes to see if the temperature went higher then 80.

We are expecting cooler temperatures on Wednesday, which will last for the rest of the week. I'm planning to turn the cool air on Monday morning, but I could change my mind depending on the temperature in the house over the next couple of days. The temperature in the house remains in the 70s until about sunset and then it goes to 80 degrees.

    A Beautiful Day in April

    A beautiful day
    Sunday traffic moved smoothly
    Everyone polite

Mom and I went to the west side of Las Vegas today. The traffic was light and the drive relaxing. I enjoyed driving and I enjoyed the afternoon. The weather is pleasant, not too cold or too warm; it is a nice day in Las Vegas.

    Another day, another Haiku

April is National Poetry month and I have written a Haiku every day. Haiku look simple to write because this type of poem contains only three lines with a total of seventeen syllables.

    A baby bird chirps
    Asking its parents for food
    The wind is blowing

I am not a happy camper

I am going to attempt to make this blog entry directly into the blog. I am not sure how well it will work since my browser is acting up. That is why I am not a happy camper. Actually, in this case I am not a happy surfer.

I attempt to access a website and it takes the browser several minutes to get me there. Sometimes if I place the curse into the address window and pressing return helps, but not all the time. Sometimes I get an error message or the gate times out. In either case, I have to start all over again. While I was typing this entry, I got the message there was a problems saving it, so I attempted to save again and it worked.

In addition, to the slowness I am having difficulties tab browser. I enjoy tab browsing when my browser does it properly. Sometimes the browser works fine, but that is rare. This situation began occurring about a week ago. I do not know what is causing the problem I just want it fixed. I just love technology when it works properly. I am going to end this entry, while there is still a chance that I can post it properly.

    Easter Sunday in Las Vegas

    On Easter Sunday
    We ate a chocolate bunny
    We enjoyed breakfast

Easter Sunday is the only time of year we eat candy for breakfast. We do not have traditional breakfast, but normally breakfast is coffee, cereal, peanut butter sandwiches, and chips. Today the wind blew, but the weather is warming up.

    A Lesson repeated

I know to plan and write a short blog post in the morning. If I do not plan and make the post, it might not happen. Yesterday, I had planned to write about Good Friday 2010, I waited to make that post and did not get it made.

My hyperacidity acted up late yesterday afternoon and I got sick. I was sick all night. I know it was something I ate that caused the problem, but I do not know what. I am going to start keeping a food journal and put in the food I eat. I may not stop eating the foods that cause the problem, but at least I will know the consequences.
