Sundry Sunday: Between Writing Spurts

Between writing spurts I cleaned out my refrigerator. It did not take much effort because everything I found hiding in the back of the shelve have been there only a couple of weeks. Apparently I clean out my fridge at the end of July or the beginning of August and did not remember cleaning it out. I thought I cleaned it out in April or May, but everything in the fridge is still editable and looked as if it had not been in the refrigerator for very long.

How does one clean out a refrigerator without remembering? I have no idea, except that my mind must have been on writing instead of cleaning the fridge. Cleaning a refrigerators is a boring job and my mind tends to wander when my hands are occupied with boring jobs. Since writing is not boring I can focus on what I am writing. Since I have more housework to do this afternoon, I am going to close this.

    I put my refrigerator together

I put my refrigerator together, actually I put the shelves in it that were taken out when it was transported to my house. Putting them in was not as complicated as it sounds. True, I have a couple of small racks that I need to figure out where they go; however, since I do not seem to need them today, I will worry about those at another time.

I am happy with the new (to me) fridge because it does not run 24/7, it keeps leftover cold and it freezes ice cubes. The refrigerator is used, so the ice maker and water dispenser do not work, but that is fine with me. When I eventually get a new refrigerator it will not have an ice maker or water dispenser.

My requirements in a refrigerator are simple. I want a fridge that does not run 24/7, the doors must close and food kept cold. It is also nice to have a fridge that I can use in a short story or poem, when I describe a refrigerator in a story I like to have the real object to describe.

Sometimes writing your thoughts is difficult

Sometimes it's difficult to write because I sit in front of the computer and stare at the screen. I can also sit at the computer and stare out my living room window. Right now, there are clouds in the sky and a man on my roof.

The man on the roof, which sounds like a good title for a story, is cutting down a tree in the neighbors yard. He just finished cutting down a tree in my yard. These are stone pine trees he and his crew are removing. I had to have one of the trees in my yard removed because the roots were headed for the foundation of the house.

Having the tree taken out was expensive, not as expensive as it could have been, but it wasn't in the budget. That means a tight situation is going to be tighter for the next month or so. However, the cost would have been more if I had left the tree and the roots ruined the foundation of the house.

I still have two stone pine trees and an olive tree in the yard. I'm eventually going to have to have the other two pine trees taken out, but since the roots aren't headed for the house I can hold off on that for a while.

I'm going to have to reschedule Mom's appointment for her hearing aid fitting on Friday afternoon. I have to make a down payment and the down payment went to removing the tree. I'm also not going to be driving at night for sometime, since I can't afford the part to fix the taillight switch.

The only thing that won't have to wait is the fridge. I can get a used fridge for about $50.00, I have a fridge lined up and someone to haul it to the house. Not sure what I'm going to do with the old fridge, but I'll deal with that when the time comes.

    Refrigerator shopping

    It's not a difficult process,
    you look at the ads
and decide which fridge to can afford
    at the regular price
    knowing that the money
    to pay for the refrigerator
won't arrive until after the sale is over.

    Price isn't the issue,
it's which one you can afford
    to pay for with cash;
    it isn't that your rich
    the problem is the reality
    of your credit
and an old fridge that runs 24/7,
    without mentioning any other problems
    with the fridge
    now sitting in the kitchen.

    Therefore,
    you say prayers 24/7
    and expect a miracle,
even if the only miracle you get
is that the old fridge continues to work
until you get a new one installed.

Writing My Wish List for 2009 – Item 1

I want a new refrigerator. The brand is less important then the attributes of the fridge. I do not want a rrefrigerator with an automatic icemaker or water dispenser. I want a refrigerator with a freezer on top and in the lower part separate compartments for eggs, meats and veggies. I want a refridegator that is economical to operate and does not use a lot of electricity.

I want a black fridge because it will go with my new extra wide holes toaster and my coffee maker. My microwave oven is white, but I want a black refrigerator. I think black appliances in the kitchen make the kitchen look classy. I have always wanted a kitchen that looked classy.

I drink bottled water most of the time, so a fridge that dispenses cold water is of no use to me. As for the icemaker, I enjoy making ice the old fashion way. I enjoy putting the water in the ice cube trays and putting the trays in the freezer. I like looking in the freezer to see if the water is frozen and then I enjoy removing the ice from the ice cube trays.
