Sunday Speculations: The Host of Inspiration - A free verse poem

Another cup of coffee,
another line of verse,
perhaps a quatrain stanza
written in reverse.

Does writing in reverse,
require a mirror to translate
stanza, line, or verse?

I wonder
as I write this
where the inspiration
comes from
to pin
these lines I write.

My soul connects with angels,
a host of glittering muse
whose rainbow colored wings inspire
the word I write today.

I feel the hosts of inspiration
gather around me
as I describe
in line and stanza
the visions that meditation
whispered to my soul.

    Wednesday Word: Inspiration

    Inspiration everywhere!
All I do is pull up a chair,
pour myself a cup of strong back coffee
and watch the steam rising from the cup.

Where do I get my inspiration? I get it from everywhere. I review a poem and I find inspiration in one of the lines or stanza. I read someone else's review of on of my stories or poems and I get inspiration for a story or poem (usually a poem). I open the door in the morning, listen to the birds sing, a rooster crow, or watch the pigeons scavenging in the gutter. I listen to the neighbor's music and I get inspiration.

    Inspiration everywhere!
    Today the weather is fair
    and the temperature
    in the low 70s;
    an inspiration to the bids,
    the neighborhood cats
    and dog
who inspire some of my odds,

Where do I get my inspiration? Washing dishes inspires me to write rhymed thank you notes. The memory of past lovers inspires me to write bitter love poems. I sit down with a cup of coffee and am inspired to write a story. I say a prayer and write a poem about God's Glory. I go to a spiritual service and write a poem about the soul.

    A bird is singing
    Expressing its gratitude
    On a windy day

Sundry Sunday: Other Tings Besides Writing

There are other things besides writing,
    besides composing a poem;
    it's in the other things
    that inspiration
    is found.

There are other things besides blogging,
besides sitting down at the keyboard
    and creating an entry;
    it's in the other thing
    that the idea
    is found.

There are other things besides writing,
there is a walk in the park,
    the neighbor's rooster crowing,
the wind in the pine trees,
    a hot cup of coffee,
a cold glass of sweet tea,
    a moment of meditation,
    a whisper prayer,
    etc.

There are other things beside writing,
but after we do these other things
then we pull a chair up to the keyboard
    and begin the process
    of writing about
    those other things.

Writing on the Edge of Dawn

    I write
    on the edge of dawn
waiting for the light of day.

    I write
    on the edge of silence
    listening to the nightingales song.

    I write
    on the edge of mourning
    waiting for tears to fall.

    I write
    on the edge of dawn
as the light of a new day
    reveals the beauty of love.

Another day, another poem, or the beginning of another poem. Sometimes the words just pop into my head and I have to write them down. Sometimes I spend several minutes or hours just staring at the screen or a dishpan full of water waiting for the lightning of inspiration. Sometimes I begin a poem one way and it ends in another. Sometimes I change themes or subjects in the middle of the poem.

Friday Afternoon Thoughts about Writing Inspiration

I'm working on a poem tentatively titled Dearly Beloved using specific words. Those words are dearly, tear, fragile, firmly, tender, words, etched, and soul. I think it's a love poem, but I could be wrong. Since the inspiration was a group of words, I'm not sure what genre of poem it will turn out to be when I'm finished. This is normal when I use prompts for stories or poem.

I'm also working on a group of flash fiction stories based on prompts inspired by the signs of the zodiac. Each story is five hundred words or less and I have to use at least five of a group of ten words. I have already written four of the stories, with the deadline for the next story being June 27 at 11:59 pm EDT (8:59 pm PDT). This group concerns a honeymoon trip to twelve different cities in twelve months. I have no idea what will happen in the next story, but I'm sure it will be exciting.
