Today I am thankful for the cooler weather in Las Vegas

    Clouds cover the sun
    And the humidity rising
    But cooler today

The clouds indicate rising humidity and cooler temperatures, at least this morning it did. I went to the gas station, the grocery store, and then came home. I bought everything I planned, so now I can relax until Monday without worrying about going to the store again.

    I am thankful for
    The cooler temperatures and
    Clouds promising rain

    Thankful Sunday

I make an entry in my gratitude journal every Thursday and sometimes make a gratitude blog entry. However, this week I think I need to find things to be thankful for before the work week begins on Tuesday. I don't get a three-day holiday and my work week never ends.

    Today I am grateful
    1. for the roasting hen I have thawing in the fridge
    2. that I had enough coffee to make a fresh pot of coffee this morning
    3. that I have enough leftover coffee to warm up on Monday morning
    4. that I had enough change in my purse to get cat food, peanut butter, bread and my Levothyroxine prescription last week
    5. for the man I gave the plastic water bottles to on Saturday; they no longer clutter my garage
    6. that I had enough cat litter to change all the litter pans on Thursday
    7. that the puddle of water in my driveway has finally dried up
    8. for the aluminum cans in my trunk, which I can sell on Tuesday
    9. that my gas tank is half full
    10. for macaroni

I probably have a lot more things to be thankful for, but right now that is my list.

At the end of a busy week

At the end of a busy week, I am thankful for no longer having a hospital bed in my dining room. The company picked the bed up Monday. Now I can get the dining table back where it belongs.

At the end of a busy week, I am thankful for chocolate. I bought two bars of chocolate from some kids who came to the house last week. This morning Mom and I had the chocolate for breakfast.

At the end of a busy week, I am thankful for my mother. Mom and I went to her doctor yesterday. Mom seems to be doing all right, of course we haven't heard anything about the blood tests the doctor order.

At the end of a busy week, I am thankful that this is Thankful Thursday because I need to find stuff for which to be thankful.

At the end of a busy week, I am thankful I have a doctor's appointment on August 6 because I will get a new prescription for my meds.

At the end of a busy week, I am thankful for the percolator I use to brew coffee.

At the end of a busy week, I am thankful for life.

At the end of a busy week, I am thankful for the cloths line I use to dry cloths.

At the end of a busy week, I am thankful for sunshine.

At the end of a busy week, I am thankful for my cats.

    The First Thanksgiving Feast

The first thanksgiving feast didn't have turkey or pie. The Plymouth colonist and the Wampanoag Indians ate venison and wild fowl (all right, maybe one of those wild birds was a turkey, but not as big as those we eat today). Another thing they didn't have was forks, instead they ate with knives, spoons, their hands and cloth napkins (which they used to pick up the food and to wipe their mouths).

Thanksgiving is a harvest festival and the reason for harvest festivals is to express gratitude and give thanks. The participants in harvest festivals give thanks for the abundance of the Earth, for the crop and the abundance of wild life, which provides food all year around.

In our modern society, we sometimes forget to express our thanks for the abundance of the ground. In cities, we go to the store and buy our produce and meat. However, we need to remember that these things come from farmers who plant crops and raise animals for us to eat. Even if we don't eat meat, we need to express our thanks to the farmers who grow the vegetables.

Today is a day to express our gratitude to everyone who has helped us survive the past 12 months. So say "Thank You" to someone who has helped you survive in this modern society. For information about Thanksgiving, see The History of Thanksgiving.

Thankful Thursday and My Gratitude Journal

    10 'Ilm 164 B.E. - Thursday, October 25, 2007 about 5:36 PM PDT

It's near sunset here in Las Vegas and I can see a slightly pink and blue sky above my garage. There's no wind so the limbs of the stone pine tree don't move. It's been a long and interesting day Thankful Thursday.
    Thankful Thursday
Thankful Thursday refers to the Thursday prompt for the Yahoo Journal Group I'm in. Every Thursday you write ten things you're thankful for and post it. I usually put in in my gratitude journal as well. I have five things so far, but haven't decided on the other five yet. I need to post an entry today because I haven't posted to that group this week.
    My Gratitude Journal
My gratitude journal's name is Glory. Every entry is address Dear Glory and then at the end I sign my name. I've made several entries in this journal the past week, but I only post Gratitude Journal entries on Thursday. I think one thing I'll be thankful for today is the sunset.
