I went shopping today

Jamál (Beauty), 1 ‘Azamat (Grandeur), 166 BE – Sunday, May 17, 2009 about 4:35 PM Pacific Time

I went shopping today. This morning about 9:00 AM, my mother and I went to The Home Depot and then to Food 4 Less. At The Home Depot we bought a heavy duty mop with a spaghetti mop head. The mop head was made of cotton, which means it will be easy to clean when it needs cleaning. I also bought two extra mop heads because I when I clean the mop head, it takes it a while to dry. I bought a new mop bucket a few days ago and decided I need a new mop to go with the bucket.

While I was at The Home Depot, I looked at the refractors. I found one that I liked and it didn't have an ice maker. I don't care for refractors with ice makers. I prefer to make my ice the old fashion way. After The Home Depot we went to Food 4 Less to get some bleach and other miscellaneous items. I can't mop a floor without bleach, my grandmother always used bleach when she mopped her kitchen and bathroom floors.

Thinking about this whole shopping experience with the new mop and mop bucket, I realized that I enjoy shopping. I also think that mopping the floor would make a good theme for a poem, especially using my new mop the first time. I am actually looking forward to mopping the floor with my new mop.

I wonder how a mop feels the first time someone uses it on a floor. That would make a good writing theme of some type. I am not sure how I am going to use it right now, but I will come up with something.

    Mixing and Matching the Themes

    Fidal (Grace), 18 Sultan (Sovereignty), 164 B.E. - Tuesday, February 5, 2008 about 7:13 AM PST

I am going to start mixing the themes an putting them on different days. Perhaps even skipping one and putting something else in its place. I am going to use more prompts to write and demonstrate more poetry forms. Discuss different methods of writing on a prompt. All right, I got bored having a specific theme on a specific day. My muse bulked at having to work that way.

I think one thing I will do is mix and match the themes, if I am writing about a contest then I will do a short review of the web site where I found the contest. I enjoy contest because they all have something different to offer a writer. Some contests have themes, while others require specific forms. It is fun and exciting to come up with a poem or story that will be appropriate for a contest.

    It's Sunday Evening

    Kamal (Perfection), 3 Sultan (Sovereignty), 164 B.E. - Sunday, January 20, 2008 about 6:45 PM PST

It's Sunday evening in late winter and I'm remembering my childhood. Specifically my Grandfather Newland. Sunday was a special time for my grandparents, it meant a big Sunday dinner with two kinds of vegetables and pie baked by my Grandmother. All the grandchildren were there for lunch and Grandpa said grace.

My Grandfather never recited a specific memorized prayer, he just spoke from his heart. The prayer was short and to the point. That's what I always liked about his prayers. He would thank God for the food and having family there. He would ask a blessing from God for everyone and then he would say Amen.

    It's Sunday evening
in late winter and I'm remembering
    my childhood.

    My Grandfather's prayers
    were spiritual and comforting
    blessing to the family
    waiting to eat the meal
    my Grandmother prepared.
