Getting Old Isn't for Wimps

I'm 67 years old, so I can state with some authority the "Getting old is not for wimps!" I even wrote a poem about it a couple of years ago when I was only 65 years old. Today, I got another reminder of this statement while I cleaned off one of the computer desk I'm taking with me  to my new studio apartment.

I had planned to take all three desk with me, until I saw the apartment and realized that I might (if I'm lucky) be able to fit two desk, the television with its stand, and a love seat in without too much difficulty. I'm taking both computers and the printer with me, so I need only two desks. I suppose I could take all three and put the television on one, but I don't think the desk would fit the place where I want to put  the television (I'll be fortunate to fit the television and stand in that location.

I still have to finish cleaning the desk off, but I thought I would make this entry while I was  thinking about it. I'm also taking a short rest because of all the walking and standing I had to do while cleaning off the desk. I did, however, get most of the desk cleaned off and I will finish the rest of it before I take another short rest and do more work online.

This experience of downsizing and moving is going to go into a short story of at least, 2,000 words. I'm not going to let this horror remain unwritten. All though, by the time I start writing it (when I get to the new apartment) I may find it funny and write a comedy piece about it.

Midweek Reflections on Moving and NaNoWriMo

The short-sale on the house will close in either seven days from October 22 or on November 25. I am moving during NaNoWriMo, which is not a pleasant thought. Moving itself is not a pleasant thought because I dislike moving, but perhaps it will inspire me while I am attempting to complete my 50,000 word novel during November.

    November moving,
    change my physical address
    a new apartment.

I know that live is not easy, but why is it that every time I move to a new location it occurs when I have two or three other important things to accomplish. Perhaps it is because I dislike moving, even when I know it is necessary and I will be happier in my new place, I still dislike moving. The problem with this move is that it requires downsizing. I a moving from a three bedroom house to a studio or one bedroom apartment. That is a lot of downsizing.

    Simplifying life,
    downsizing, economizing:
    A new adventure?

    Midweek Reflections: Grief and downsizing

I am still mourning Mom's passing. She died on November 29, 2012, some would say I should have stopped mourning by now; this is not true because everyone mourns at his or her own pace. I miss Mom, which I suspect i s why I am having difficulty downsizing. The problem is that I would like to consult with Mom on some of the items and find out what she wanted done with them.

Since I cannot consult with Mom, I will have to do what I think is best. I guess I should have spoken to her about some of these thing before she died. I should have spoken to her about them before the Alzheimer's took her memory. I did not and there is not use shoulding on myself, so I will do what I think is best and get on with downsizing.
    c
When I begin going through a cupboard or a closest and have to make a decision about an item, I freeze up. That does not help because it makes the process more difficult and slower. I think it also affects my writing, which is why I decided to compose this entry. I know that if I can get past the block that prevents me from writing about grief and downsizing then I will be able to continue downsizing.

I think I will start taking pictures of the stuff I am sorting. That may help me get past the downsizing block, I say downsizing block because I do not have writer's block in the normal sense of the phrase. I can still write poems and stories, I just seem to have difficulty writing about downsizing. Pictures may help and they will give me something to post with my blog entries.
