Website Wednesday: My favorite grammar blog

This morning I logged into writing.com to check my inbox and respond to a couple of blog prompts, I found that one of the prompts ask about my favorite non-writing.com blog. I had to think about this for a while because I have two favorite blogs that fit this criteria. After giving the prompt several minutes of thought, I decided I had two favorite blogs. One of the blogs focuses on spiritual concepts while the other focuses on grammar. 

The Anarchist's Guide to Grammarr is the one I will focus on today.  I like this blog because the posts keep my attention. No matter how many words an entry contains I can focus on reading without getting bored. The latest entry is dated Friday, March 11, 2016 and titled American-English – The Official Guide. The theme of this entry is spelling, it seems someone broke into the blog entries and screwed up the spelling.  

I got hooked on this blog several years ago when I did an online search for mullygrub, a word my Grandfather used. The date of this entry is Monday, September 24, 2012. I looked up the word because my mother had begun using it, so I wanted to find out what it meant. I like this word. It is a good word and not just because my Grandfather used it. It is a word I can use in a poem or a story, true when I edit the story I might replace it with another, but it will remain until someone else proofreads the story. Then suggest a word that I might like better. 

Website Wednesday: My Favorite Writer’s Website

My favorite website is writing.com. The reason I like this website is the helpful reviews, the contests, the challenges, and the members. This month I am participating in a 30-Day blog Challenge. Each day the participants receive a prompt, which each one responds to and post in his or her blog.

Another reason I like this website is the free online portfolio each person receives when becoming a member. In addition, there are numerous writing tools and a full e-mail service. It is easy to share your work with other members and receive reviews.

Website Wednesday: The problem is lack of drive

I have encountered lack of drive recently. I have a project that I need to finish, but I just cannot get it going. I find all sorts of excuses to procrastinate by finding something else to do. According to thewriteweek.com this is the worst thing I can do because "writing is 50% habit". The solution to lack of drive therefore is to sit down and write, write anything, but write.

Write Week is a monthly occurrence, which starts on the first day and ends on the seventh day. The idea is simply to write 5,000 words on any subject. The ideas is to start and complete a new project in 5,000 words. The reason behind starting a new project is to give your brain a chance to stretch in a different direction then the stalled project. In this instance the writer is stepping back from the problem and this helps solve any problem.

I am looking forward to February 1, when Write Week begins. I am looking forward to writing 5,000 words on something completely different then projects I am working on. Maybe I will even try a new genre.

thewriteweek.com is in conjunction with chaoticbunny.com, which appears to be an interesting website. I will look at the second website in more dealt in the mean time Write Week begins February 1, the day after tomorrow, therefore I am going to have to decide on my new project and a working title.
