Success Saturday: What are the prerequisites for Success?

Is ignorance a prerequisite to success? Yes! If you don't know something is impossible then you are going to succeed.

Is confidence a prerequisite for success? Yes! Confidence is faith in yourself and in your idea. If you lack faith in either then you will believe that success in impossible.

What are two other prerequisites to success? I believe courage and a sense of humor are necessary for success. A person needs courage to face all the negativity that he or she encounters when attempting something. Sometimes the negativity comments or doubts come from outside ones own mind, but they can also come from the person's own lack of self-confidence or low self-esteem. No matter where the negativity comes from a person needs courage to push beyond it and succeed.

Why is a sense of humor necessary? Laughter is a good stress reliever. A sense of humor lets a person laugh even in the midst of tears. The ability to laugh at yourself or an absurd situations relieves stress and gives you a chance to refocus on the situation from a different angle.

Update on My Life

 1.  I have to find a place I to live by the end of the week (at least I think so).
 2.  While attempting to my my weekly scanner upload on my other computer I encountered the Blue Screen of Death. I finally go the scanner uploaded without encountering any more problems.
 3.  This afternoon I am going to look at an apartment, which I am not sure I can afford; however, I am going to look at it anyway.
  4.  This is the middle of the month and my bank account is almost drained from paying bills, so I am not sure how I am going to afford moving cost.
 5.  I have to turn in two prescriptions so that I can pick them up tomorrow. I  have enough money to pay for the prescriptions, but not much else.
 6.  I need gas in the car.
 7.  This is Day 9 of NaNoWriMo and I had delusions that I would be able to remain in this house until Day 25.
 8.  This is just another test of my persistence, which is beginning to wear a bit thin.
 9.  I need to purchase a couple dozen cookies for a dinner I am attending on Wednesday, November 20.
10. I need to earn enough Gift Points on writing.com to purchase another three month premium membership by December 31, 2013.

That is all that I can think of today, but I have no doubt that life will attempt to kick me in the teeth with something else before the end of NaNoWriMo or the end of the year. Considering that I have a full set of dentures you would think that life would find somebody with their original teeth still in their mouth. Yes, I still have my weird sense of humor.

Sending Christmas Cards from Heaven

I just read an interesting article on the yahoo news page. I went to log into my account and noticed the headline Cards from heaven have dead man talking. An 88 year old man who died this year sent Christmas cards to his friends and family. It gave everyone a jolt, as it should. I know I'd get shivers if I got a card from one of my friends on the other side.



The man was 88 years old and had a good sense of humor. I like examples of humor in anyone over the age of 60 (I'm 61), but I'm especially fond of it on octogenarians. Anyone who has survived this life for more then 80 years must have a good sense of humor. I hope my sense of humor is as good as this guys when I turn 88. He worked the project out with his 57-year-old barber, obviously a woman with a good sense of humor herself.



This is the best Christmas card story I've heard or read in years. It is worthy of a poem and. at least, a flash fiction story. Of course, as a writer I'm always looking for examples of good senses of humor. You have to write story with humor in it once in a while or you get depressed. Even if humor isn't a writer's main genre attempting to write one oils the cogs of the muse and keeps a writer young.
