Beloved

7 Qawl 163 B.E. - November 29, 2006

You are closer to me than my atrial artery,
while I,
Beloved,
am farther from You than the Universe’s recede edge.

Alone in my room I read the verse of Your love,
weep because of the distance between us,
with considering how close You are to me.

Forgive me my distance,
bring be back to the warm embrace
of Your star,
but You are near to me
I am the one who has chosen the distance.

Parsec by parsec,
prayer by prayer,
I seek to close the light years
that separates me from You.

You beckon to me
call to me across the darkness,
I see Your bright star
I speed toward the gravity
of my soul’s only home.

Beloved,
I come,
I come leaving behind all,
but the joy of seeing your light,
of feeling the warm of presence.

    Awakening

    6 Qawl 163 B.E. - November 28, 2006

As dawn’s pink fingers, push back the blankets of night,
    I rise
    calling the Beloved’s name.

I hear His glorious speech reverberate
across the icy void that separates
    me from my soul’s desire
    and feel the warm embrace
    of His fiery words.

I walk through my cold house,
pour a cup of God’s warm grace
    and sip
    letter by letter
    the verses of eternal life’s
    new brew.

    Spiritual Poems in Alphabetical Order

    1 Qawl 163 B.E. - November 23, 2006

The next 26 entries in this blog will be spiritual poems written in alphabetical order. I’ve used the alphabetical theme in my writing.com blog The Snowflake Chronicles and Poet 999 - A Butterfly Emerges from Her Cocoon. The theme in The Snowflake Chronicles will be finished with the next entry, while in Poet 999 my next entry will be an L title.

Alphabetical theme seems to be working well although not all the entries in the other blogs haven’t all been poems. I’m looking forward to write the poems in alphabetical order. I’ve never actually set out to write a group of poems using one subject (in this case spiritual poems) in alphabetical order. Now all I have to do is write the poems. This is going to be fun.

    One Month

    2 Qudrat 163 B.E. - November 5, 2006

It’s been exactly one month since I posted to this blog. In that month I’ve completed the book Three Meditations on the Eve of November 4th by A. Q. Faizi. Begin reading PoemCrazy by Susan Goldsmith Wolldrige, The Tabernacle of Unity: Baha’u’llah’s Responses to Manikchi Sahib and Other Writings, and Poetry of the Spirit: An Original Anthology of Insightful Poems Edited by Alan Jacobs.

OK, three books may sound like too many to read at one time, but The Tabernacle of Unity and PoemCrazy are both small book that I can carry in my purse. The Tabernacle of Unity is sacred scripture and PoemCrazy is a book on writing poems that contains poetic exercises. Poetry of the Spirit is thick and big, much too big to carry with me so it is on my bedside table and I read it when I can’t sleep.
