Sunday Review: Getting Back to my old self

I am getting back to my roots,
back to the things I enjoyed
before grief
kicked me in the teeth.

I am enjoying
my favorite foods,
putting hot sauce
in my tomato juice again.

I am trying new taste sensations,
eating Greek yogurt
with strawberries.

I am a different person
then I was on November 29, 2012
and yet
in many ways
I am the same person,
but redefined by sorrow.

Haibun-Haiku: Bananas and strawberries

My favorite fruits
Bananas and strawberries
A glass of cold milk

When I went to the grocery store yesterday I bought two packages of strawberries and some bananas. I love bananas and strawberries served with a glass of cold milk. I know some people eat them on cereals, but I prefer them without the cereal. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, Mom and I will have them for breakfast along with a glasses of milk and cups of coffee.
