My first Open Mic poetry reading in 2013

Tonight, January 22, 2013, I went to the WordUp poetry reading at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is  the first open mic reading I have attended in about six years. Tonight's feature was the band Oh No, Trippy Machete with Woz, A.J., and Shane (the drummer). This is a wonderful band, I enjoyed listening to their music and songs.

No Poetry Reading On Tuesday Night

The poetry reading at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf tomorrow night is cancelled. I received the e-mail after I made the last entry. Since there is no poetry reading, we will not be going out. I am disappointed, but I will find something else for us to do tomorrow night. Perhaps there is something good on T.V.

Giving Thanks in Rhyme

Giving Thanks is theme for the open mic poetry reading at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, 4550 S. Maryland Pkwy., on Tuesday night. My mother and I are going. We have not attended a poetry reading in over a year. My mother misses going to readings. I miss going to readings.

The poetry reading begins at 7:00 PM, which means we will have to leave the house between 6:00 and 6:30 PM. The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf on Maryland Pkwy is about fifteen or twenty minutes away depending on traffic. The traffic on Maryland is heavy especially about 6:00 PM.

Lady's Poetry Night in Las Vegas

Tuesday, September 16, at 7:00 PM the 2008 Lady's Poetry Reading will occur at the reJAVAnate on the corner of East Flamingo and Pacos. The title of this years reading is The Women of Estrogeniuses. The hosts for this reading are Danna Nordin and Lucy Botwick. The poets featured are Madeline Beckwith, Renee Christy, Neva Darbe, Joan Paulette Dudley, Rosa Mendoza, Megan Milligan, Ms. China, Kari O'Connor, De'Anna Price, Elizabeth Quiñones-Zaldañ a, and Sharon R. Schwartz.

Men's Night an Annual Poetry Event in Las Vegas

The 10th Annual Men's Night Poetry Reading is coming in August. This year's event, titled Muscular Metaphors, will occur on Tuesday, August 19 at 7:00 PM. The location is reJAVAnate on the corner of Flamingo and Pecos. Ten local poets will read that night.

The poets reading at Muscular Metaphors are Tony Abreu, Gary Ashman, Bruce Isaacson, Jorge Lara, Nick Marco, Hyatt McKenna, Robert Meyer, Cary Nordin, Mike Ryan, and Mark Snyder; all talented poets in the Las Vegas area. Men's Night is always an enjoyable event.
