Morning Poem (A senryu)
I wrote a poem
Before dawn scattered darkness
About prayer’s light
The senryu is a Japanese form similar to the haiku, but with a different subject or theme. The senryu is a 3-lined unrhymed poem with a syllable count of 5-7-5 and the theme concerns humanity, the individual, or community.
