but can always find a pen
or half-a-dozen of them
at any other time.

I still don't know why
I can laugh and cry
at the same time
without any effort at all.

I still don't know why
a cat wants to go outside
until you open the door to let it out;
then it decides it didn't want to go outside
after all.
