Writing Poetry in a New Year

When writing poetry in a New Year
look at each day as a challenge you muse
must confront
like driving home in a traffic jam
after shopping across town.
Each new day the inspirations reveal themselves
one after another
like cars on the freeway
everyone going in the same direction
but to a different location.
