The Difference between a spelling error and a typo
No matter what anyone says, there is a difference between a spelling error and a typo. A typo occurs when the writer inadvertently strikes the wrong key when typing a manuscript. A spelling error occurs when the writing does not know how to spell the word and spells it without checking a dictionary.
Normally, the spell check or grammar check picks up the misspelling and gives the writer a choice of words. However, sometimes the writer spells the word so badly that the spell check cannot find the proper spelling. I have found the solution to this problem is to spell the word phonetically.
Spell checkers do not hold the proper spelling of every word a writer uses. That is why a writer needs a dictionary close. If a writer does find a word that is not in the spell checker, then the writer can add it, which I recommend because chances are if you use the word in one manuscript then you are going to use it in another.
