The first day of autumn in Las Vegas

It is the first day of autumn and summer is gone. In Las Vegas, you would not know summer was gone because today was a triple digit day. It does not look like autumn here either. The leaves have not begun to change colors and are still on the trees.

The temperatures are cooling down and this may be our last triple digit day. Today I begin watching the thermostat closer and when the temperature in the house remains below 79 degrees for about a week, then I will turn the cool temperature off. However, I will not turn on the warm air until sometime in November or early December. The temperatures at night do not get cool enough to turn the heat on until then.

It is the first day of autumn in Las Vegas and across the northern hemisphere. It is time to begin getting out the winter cloths; at least this was when my Grandmother started the process of unpacking winter sweaters and coats. Grandma lived in Oklahoma so the autumn temperatures there are a little different then in Nevada.

I enjoy the autumn weather in Nevada. In fact, the only thing I miss about Oklahoma this time of year is the way the leaves change in October. Sometimes in Nevada the do not begin to change until December.
