The Weather in Vegas & The Long Healing Prayer

3 ‘Azamat 164 B.E. – May 19, 2007

The weather in Las Vegas is finally warming up. Today it’s supposed to get somewhere around 95 degrees. I know this blog is supposed to be my thoughts on spiritual poetry and the local weather may not appear to have a lot to do with spirituality or poetry. Actually it’s days like this that I like to have a cold glass of tea, a book of scriptures and sit on the patio sipping tea, reading and writing.

Lately it’s been one big adventure (I’m being nice here) after another. I have read the Long Healing Prayer a lot. That is my favorite healing prayer. I’ll be reading it a lot more in the near future as well. I’m thinking of writing a poem based on this particular prayer. The prayer was revealed by Baha’u’llah. I’m going to have to do some research on it, but I think I have something about it saved in one of my yahoo folders. I’ll have to check and see.

When one reads this prayer aloud, it sounds like a song. I just love to read it aloud because it is so calming and refreshing. The prayer begins by calling on the names of God, it list many of the titles of the creator. This prayer is true mystic poetry, written by the reflection of God. Baha’u’llah is the latest revealer of God’s attributes on Earth. Baha’u’llah revealed many books and tables. He wrote poems as well.

I think this is it for today. I’ll write some more later about the tablets, books and poems Baha’u’llah revealed. Only about three things relax me. Fist, reading the writings of Baha’u’llah and the Bab; second, prayer and meditations and third, writing.
